Trolling Suggestions

This Lure system was specifically developed for Blue Marlin Fishing, but has been proven to work on all billfish. It involves certain parameters that must be followed, in order to achieve success. The lure and hookset have been re-designed and refined many times in arriving at their present form and should not be modified in any way or performance may diminish
Stability is a key factor in hook-up success and these lures are made to run as stable as possible. They are slant faced and "keeled" so they will run upright without spinning. Locking the hookset into the head keeps the hook riding straight up, consistently. Optimal trolling speed is 7 to 9 knots and should be adjusted according to sea conditions to prevent any jumping action, which decreases stability.

Wave 4 - Red Hook - Solid Hook Up

140+ lb. Yellowfin Tuna

This system involves using a heavy strike drag. Recommended strike drag is as follows:

Line Test
130 lb.
100 lb.
80 lb.
50 lb.
30 lb.

Strike Drag
35 lbs.
35 lbs.
30 lbs.
20 lbs.
12 lbs.

This system is not recommended for use with any line lighter than 30 lb. test. Performance may decrease with lighter drag settings. Remember, these settings are only for the initial strike. The strike procedure begins with the reel set to the recommended strike drag for the line test you are using. This is a heavy strike drag, so you may want to set your reel at full drag with this setting instead of at the strike position. As the fish grabs the lure, it breaks the small rubber band in the tag line and turns to swim away... Suddenly, the line comes tight and the fish is hit with heavy drag, which moves the lure in its mouth and sets the hook. A minimum amount  of line is out, which reduces stretch and optimizes the hook-setting ability. Don't use any more drag than is necessary to catch the fish in a timely manner. Once the fish is alongside the boat, if the hookset cannot be removed fom the fish quickly and without danger, cut the leader as short as possible.

A more detailed trolling suggestions page is included with your lure purchase. Give this new system a try, improve your hook-up ratio and catch more fish!
